Are you experiencing cracks on your precious gel crystal glass works? Maybe it’s beginning to peel off a little. Condensation can sometimes cause the gel to peel from the glass surface, especially on a windowpane. You can either patch it up or try to prevent it right from the start.

Before applying the gel crystal onto your glass, varnish the surface of the glass first with Gédéo or Jo Sonja’s gloss varnish. Leave it to dry for at least ½ an hour and then apply the gel. Once you’re done with your masterpiece, leave it to dry for a couple of hours before applying the varnish again over the gel crystal. Remember not to leave your work unvarnished for too long (no more than 5 days).

By doing this “sandwich” technique, it will help the gel adhere better onto the glass and also to “lock” the moisture in to prevent it from cracking.
